Inside Story - Chancel

Looking around the Chancel you will see the early English lancet windows strongly built for defensive purposes. In one of them are the coats of arms of the three dioceses to which our church has belonged: Lincoln 1094-1837; Ely 1837-1914; St. Albans 1914 to the present day In another window there is the Royal coat of arms, a recognition that, since the time of the Dissolution, the Crown has had the right to choose the rectors of St. Nicholas. Barton is one of only 300 parishes in which this right still exists.

To read more about the Chancel, the Church Guide, price £2.50, is available from the Rector.
